More Stolen Quilts!!

Karen Combs is one of our National Teachers at Quilt Fest this year.  This is the second time in about a month that a teacher has had multiple quilts  from stolen from a car.
It is something every traveling quilt teacher fears, her quilts will be stolen or lost.  Unfortunately, it has happened to me. I’m heartbroken. . . please share the images and story below.  I hope they will be found.
On March 16, 2012, sometime between midnight and 6am at the Courtyard New Braunfels River Village, my rental car’s driver window was broken and my teaching suitecase was stolen. The hotel is located at 750 IH 35 North in New Braunfels, Texas. The police were called, they stated the break-in looked like the work of a professional.
It was a “smash and grab”. The vandals did not know what they were taking and it will have no value to them.  It means the world to me. . .
Inside the suitecase were the quilts  from my popular Patchwork Illusions class. I also lost all my teaching supplies and step-by-step demos for the class.
If you live in New Braunfels or anywhere in Texas, please check local yard sales, flea markets and pawn shops for the quilts.  Everyone, please   forward this blog posting to every quilter and quilt shop you know and ask them to forward it to everyone they know.
If you find one of my quilts or quilt  blocks, please contact me at karen@karencombs.com
Thank you for all your help,

Karen

Catch The Quilting Bug!!

Things are gearing up for Quilt Fest 2012 which will be held in Sept. at the St. George, UT Convention Center this year.  If you haven't seen the logo for this year, here it is............

Crystal did an awesome job of selecting this logo.  I'm not sure who actually created it, but kudos for a really fun "bug".  It seems that these theme's get better and better each year.

So, with that said,  have you caught the quilting bug yet?  The worker bugs are very busy behind the scenes working their little antenna's off getting the teachers and classes selected.  Then comes the huge job of putting the brochure together in order to get it mailed out to everyone by the beginning of May.  Check out the UQG website HERE for information to join if you are not already a member.  There are a lot of benefits for members including reduced rates for classes at Quilt Fest.  The savings on one all day class will pay for your yearly dues!

Do you have a "bug" themed quilt that you would like to display?  If not, you have plenty of time to make one.  More later on the quilt show and entering your quilts.

Celebration of Spring

This is the Place Heritage Park has a celebration of spring called Baby Animal Days.  The Quilt Guild is having a spring celebration also.  We are going to showcase baby quilts.  We will have a show of baby quilts and have several baby quilts set up to tie.  We hope to attract children who might want a break from the animals and come in and learn how to tie quilts.  The baby quilts we tie will be donated to Shriners Hospital.  Please come and enjoy spring at This is the Place.  We will be open 1:00 to 5:00 from April 5th thru April 14th.  Quilt guild members who come just to see the show, get in for free with membership.   If you would like to help with this show, please contact Lisa Wegener at 801-870-8050

Thanks Lisa.
