It's Almost Here!!

HMQS begins this week at the South Towne Exhibition Center in Sandy, UT.  Are you ready?  Sources say that there are a LOT of quilts this year.  If you haven't been to this show, this is the year to attend.  There really is something for everyone.....judged quilts, display quilts, the Riley Blake Challenge, Center Stage talks, trunk shows and demos.  One of the special exhibits this year is the monthly Kaffe (Fassett) Club's "Museum Quilt".  These quilts have been in the making for the past two years and are stunning.

There may still be a few classes available, so check at the registration desk. Then there is the Vendors Mall, with machines, fabric, tools, and "just can't do without" things.  So, put on your comfortable shoes, get a friend or two, and come to the show Thursday - Friday, May 10-12th.  Stop at the UQG booth while you are there to see what fun things are happening this year.

Utah Law Enforcement Memorial Service

Yesterday, a memorial service was held in SLC to honor Officer Francom who was killed in the line of duty on Jan. 4, 2012 in Ogden, UT.
Five other officers were also wounded at that time.  The Utah Quilt Guild decided to make quilts for the families of these officers.  Each child received a quilt and each family received a "family" quilt to snuggle under. We feel so honored to have been a part of this and our thanks go out to all the Guild members who participated in making these quilts.

There was also a private ceremony in Ogden to unveil a memorial outside of the city's Public Safety Building for the six officers involved in the shooting.

One big bundle of quilts for each family.
