Hope you all had a wonderful Christmas! It doesn't seem possible that it is almost 2014!! Almost everyone I have talked to, or blogs I have read, have had the same complaint (for lack of a better word)....the last 2-3 months of 2013 were a blur. Was it because, as some have said, that Thanksgiving was late this year? For me, I think that may have been a small part of it, but I think it was seeing businesses with Christmas decorations up before Halloween that made me feel like there was a lot of time left to get everything ready for the holidays. What about you? Did you get everything on your "make it" list finished? Or are you going to say that you've already started projects for next year?!
Anyhow, it is time for us to make our annual resolutions for 2014. Yes, as quilters, we all make the same ones. You know which ones I'm talking about but I'm not ready to say them out loud.
Some quilt shops are having New Year's Day specials, so check out your local shops. The closest one for me (that I'm aware of) is Village Dry Goods in Brigham City. Any specials or fun activities in your area? Let me know and I will post them. For those of you who like mystery quilts,
Planet Patchwork is hosting their annual New Year's Day Mystery. You can see previous mystery quilts on the website.
2014 will also have more retreats and quilt shows! The first one is Quilt St. George, which will be held January 14-17, 2014. Registration information is on the website. There are a lot of great teachers as well as some fun activities. It will be held at the Abbey Inn and Conference Center in St. George, UT.
Have a wonderful, safe New Year, from all of us on the UQG board!
